Al Fraser Chair, St John Ambulance Alberta
What do a new building and the St. John Ambulance organization have in common? Neither function for long without the people. The volunteers of St. John Ambulance have been a cornerstone of community service in Calgary for decades, and St. John Ambulance has trained a countless numbers citizens in southern Alberta to provide first aid and save lives.
As a former first aid instructor and a Community Services volunteer for over 30 years, I have experienced the value of first aid training firsthand. I know of the pride you feel when a student tells you how they used the skills you taught them to help another person. Our training is not just directed towards industry but towards daycare workers, grandparents, youth and a variety of professionals as well.
Hundreds of dedicated instructors and Community Services volunteers need a facility to operate from in order to provide this valuable, life saving training. Albertans still have a great sense of community and they want to help one another. Learning valuable first aid and CPR skills in a new, learning-friendly environment is one more way that St. John provides trained people to your community.
As Canada’s standard for excellence in First Aid and CPR services, St John Ambulance plays an integral role in our society. Building on a 900-year tradition, St John Ambulance offers innovative first aid programs and products to ensure that Albertans receive the best quality and expertise.
